The Wachau in Lower Austria

The Wachau region in Lower Austria is probably one of the most beautiful and most famous areas along the Danube but is still a genuine insider tip for bikers. It’s not only wine lovers, gourmets and apricot connoisseurs who will find what their heart desires here – it undoubtedly also has plenty to offer us motorcyclists.

The region Wachau-Nibelungengau-Kremstal

Wachau, as part of this region and unique river landscape, was added to the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List in 2000. And that for good reason.

Those who have not yet discovered the Wachau region and its surrounding area by motorbike should do so without delay. As soon as you leave the banks of the Danube, you get the impression that the roads were built especially for us bikers. It doesn't matter whether you start your tour up the Danube from here and go through the Nibelungengau region and the Danube Valley, whether you explore the labyrinth of bends in the Waldviertel, discover the Höllental valley between Schneeberg and Rax or head south to Mariazell and the Gesäuse. This corner of Austria is a MUST for every leisure biker.

A top tip not only in bad weather: the Krems-Egelsee Motorcycle Museum
